Rangers boss admits form star could be the next to leave Ibrox – on one condition

Philippe Clement admits Ridvan Yilmaz could leave Rangers – but on one condition.

Ridvan Yilmaz may leave Glasgow this January, according to Rangers manager Philippe Clement, but only if the Ibrox team is happy with the agreement.

Following Rangers’ 2-2 draw with FC Copenhagen at Ibrox, the manager of the club was questioned about the club’s January transfer activity.

Ridvan Yilmaz’s status was discussed as part of this, since the left-back was closely associated with the Ibrox exit door this month.

In addition to reports of a failed bid by Galatasaray, there are strong ties to Verona of Serie A.

Philippe Clement on Ridvan Yilmaz

Rangers turned down Galatasaray's January attempt to sign left-back Ridvan Yilmaz.
Rangers turned down Galatasaray’s January attempt to sign left-back Ridvan Yilmaz.

The Rangers manager stated that every member of his team is available at the appropriate time and for the right price, even if he would not directly reply to the links.

This includes Ridvan Yilmaz, whose remarks may be seen as a subliminal hint about the specifics of Galatasaray’s loan-to-buy offer not being appropriate for Rangers.

It is evident that Rangers would not let the Turkish international to go until the matter is resolved and someone gives up or stops talking.

When asked about Ridvan Yilmaz, Philippe Clement replied, “I cannot respond on that because – and not for any player who is here – I am busy with one thing.”

“Everybody who is here is a player of Rangers and I commit fully with all the staff to get the best out of them.

“But for every player at Rangers, if there comes an offer that is not to be refused, or it’s a good thing for the club at that moment, then we need to discuss it.

“For the moment it’s not the case so Ridvan is here and he’s started the game also, so I see it that way.”

The Rangers manager also said this when asked if Ridvan was a player he’d like to see stick around:

In order to ensure that we have solutions in case something goes wrong, we must be ready for every situation. For example, we have two players at a position where one is nearing the end of his contract and the other is the subject of a lot of rumors. Therefore, we must be prepared for everything and ensure that we have answers in case something goes wrong.”

Later the manager added: “We cannot go on in three competitions with one left full-back, that’s clear, for example. And in other positions it’s the same.”

Rangers transfer exit could beckon

We don’t really have to read too much between the lines to see that the situation with Ridvan Yilmaz’s future remains a live one for Philippe Clement.

Although it seems that the 22-year-old Ibrox left-back is in demand, Rangers will not be compelled to sell unless the terms of the transaction work for them during this window.

A new left-back is obviously being pursued by the team in light of Ridvan Yilmaz’s circumstances, as Borna Barisic’s contract expires in the summer.

Rangers are currently waiting to see if Verona or Galatasaray will agree to their demands, but a transfer analyst has informed us that the left-back would prefer not to return to Turkey.
