Cowboys Player Leaks Frustration With Dak Prescott, Mike McCarthy.
Not just Dallas Cowboys supporters felt let down by the team’s performance during their early elimination from the NFL playoffs.
Following Dallas’ crushing defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers, NFL Network’s Jane Slater gave an update inside the Cowboys locker room.
Overall, the Dallas locker room continues to back head coach Mike McCarthy, according to the league insider.
Slater said in a message posted on X on January 15, 2024, “To the fans, who think this team has quit on Mike McCarthy my conversations with
players don’t tell me that AT all.” It’s fascinating to hear them defend him, his values, and the way he has guided them both on and off the field.
It’s their responsibility that Mike failed that really sticks out.
This is not to say there was not some frustration with McCarthy and Dak Prescott among Cowboys players.
Slater also reported that there was skepticism about the lack of adapting during the loss as well as Prescott’s ability to move beyond his first read.
“Fans can roll their eyes but I do think players thoughts matter as Jerry Jones weighs decision,” Slater added.
“Another player was frustrated with a stubbornness to stick to schemes on both sides of the ball.
Motion offenses killing defenses and concern that Dak panics when 1st read not there.”
Dak Prescott Is Still ‘Incredibly Supported’ in the Dallas Cowboys Locker Room, Says Insider
Slater tried to provide context for her first story a day later. Prescott continues to have “incredibly supportive support in that locker room,” the NFL
Network reporter continued. However, Slater’s early report suggests that McCarthy and Prescott’s performances in the team’s championship game had at least somewhat disappointed fans.
In a string of tweets on January 16, Slater stated, “I should have given it more nuance and shouldn’t have put it in a tweet.”
“To be absolutely clear, I did not speak with CeeDee Lamb, and I’m not here to stir up drama in the locker room.
I was just attempting to gauge opinions about Mike in light of the external criticism and the events of Sunday.
“Dak is incredibly supported in that locker room. By his own admission that wasn’t his best game Sunday.
I want people to be fair and I apologize for not being more clear. I don’t want this narrative to take on a life of its own and it clearly has.”
Cowboys Rumors: Dallas Is Treating Meeting With Mike McCarthy ‘Like a Job Interview’
The Cowboys have once again maintained radio silence over McCarthy’s future as the season comes to a finish.McCarthy will be encouraged to
approach his meeting with owner Jerry Jones “like a job interview,” according to Sports Illustrated’s Mike Fisher. After just one playoff victory in
four seasons, McCarthy might actually be interviewing for a position of his own.
In a story published on January 16 titled “Mike McCarthy Meeting with Cowboys’ Jerry Jones ‘Like a Job Interview,'” Fisher stated that “Coach
Mike McCarthy is already under contract with the Dallas Cowboys for one more season.” Nevertheless, when he meets with team owner Jerry Jones
this week, he will figuratively present his résumé to the owner in what one source describes as “like a job interview,” according to CowboysSI.com.
