Former Bill Belichick player describes the “ideal” position for a coach.
NFL pundit Louis Riddick, who played for the Cleveland Browns in the 1990s under head coach Bill
Belichick, describes his position as the “ideal” one for the coach.
Jerry Jones, the general manager and owner of the Dallas Cowboys, may decide to try something
different this winter, which would make Belichick an excellent coach to take Mike McCarthy’s position.
“Bill wants to go somewhere with a seasoned quarterback who knows how to play
the position well and who could need his guidance to say, “Hey, look, this is what we’re going to do,”
during the postseason.
I’m going to support and shield you in this way. Ridiculous mentioned associating Belichick with the
Cowboys on Tuesday’s episode of ESPN’s “Get Up!”, which Boston.com’s Hayden Bird shared.
Amazingly, quarterback Dak Prescott has improved this season, according to a
piece published on Monday by Dan Graziano of ESPN NFL Insiders.
The previous regular season was one of the reasons Graziano learned from Cowboys sources that “the
team is very happy with the job McCarthy is doing.”
Naturally, things could have been different after Prescott threw two costly turnovers and the Dallas
defense allowed 143 rushing yards.
This past Sunday’s demoralizing 48-32 wild-card playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers included yards
and three touchdowns gained on the run.
McCarthy joined Dallas in 2020 and has a 1-3 postseason record to date.
Riddick continued, “That ain’t happening with a Bill Belichick-coached defense,” in reference to the
Cowboys’ performance on Sunday.
“He’s ideal for Dallas if he can handle the remaining issues. He is flawless.
Not everyone shares the same opinion. Mac Engel, a columnist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram,
anticipated that Jones and Belichick will spar before the weekend.
