Michael Carrick makes exciting Delano Burgzorg prediction amid Emmanuel Latte Lath transfer talk

Delano Burgzorg has yet to nail down a regular starting spot at Middlesbrough

Head coach Michael Carrick expects Delano Burgzorg to play a significant role in Middlesbrough’s promotion campaign. This season, the maverick forward has been in and out of Boro’s starting lineup, as Carrick constantly rotates his attacking line.

Burgzorg, who signed for an undisclosed price from Bundesliga club Mainz in the summer transfer window, was called up to the first squad for Saturday’s game against Millwall. He lined up on the left wing as Carrick’s team resumed winning ways.

Carrick commented on Burgzorg’s season, saying, “Della has done very well.” He came in for the Luton game and has had a positive influence in the games he has played. “He has demonstrated his capabilities.”He differs from the other players we have in those positions in a variety of ways, including his style and abilities. I believe it is critical to have such flexibility and variance. It’s akin like comparing Manu [Emmanuel Latte Lath] and Tommy [Conway]; they’re both effective, and it’s quite difficult to choose between them. Both are similarly effective, although with subtle differences.Della has come in and demonstrated what he can do, what his strengths are, and how much he can help us and be a part of the team for the rest of the season.”

Latte Lath’s 10th-minute strike was pivotal at the Riverside, firing Boro back into the Championship play-offs with his eighth goal of the season. Speculation is growing that West Ham United and Ipswich Town will increase their interest in the forward when the transfer market opens on January 1. Latte Lath was the subject of a failed £20 million deal by the Tractor Boys last summer.
“Manu’s a good player, and we’re trying to build something here to achieve success (so we fought hard to keep him in the summer),” pointed out Carrick. “The timing of some events has an impact on this. It is about taking chances.

“Looking back at the weekend game, Manu capitalized on his opportunity. If you look at the Leeds game, Ben [Doak] had an opportunity, but the goalkeeper made a great save, and they scored down the opposite end. That is football. It went our way over the weekend, and Manu took the goal really nicely.”
