Michael Graham admits he was ‘wrong’ about Sunderland star, he’s reached surprising new ‘level’ this season.

Sunderland stunned fans with their dramatic comeback against Swansea City this weekend, and one player in particular has been getting plenty of praise for his performance.

Sunderland appeared to be on their way to a dismal defeat at the Liberty Stadium after falling behind Swansea by two goals. However, a double salvo from Dan Neil and Jobe Bellingham turned the game around and secured all three points for the Black Cats. It’s a triumph that demonstrates Sunderland’s perseverance in competing for promotion this season, as well as a game that fully demonstrated what one member of the squad is capable of.

Jobe Bellingham has impressed this season for Sunderland.

After the game, Regis Le Bris praised Bellingham’s performance, and he isn’t the only one. Sunderland expert Michael Graham acknowledged on Twitter/X that he never expected Bellingham to become so influential so early, and he has been impressed with the young midfielder this season. Graham wrote: “I’m regularly incorrect about Sunderland, and I’m not afraid to acknowledge it. And, I have to admit, I did not expect Jobe to perform at this level this season. “Certainly not this early in his career.”

Bellingham recorded his third assist and third goal of the season against Swansea, and he remains a key member of Regis Le Bris’ developing youthful team.

Sunderland have to keep hold of Jobe Bellingham at all costs

As Bellingham progresses, he will certainly attract more attention from big clubs across Europe, which can only mean disaster for Sunderland. We already know that Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Bellingham in January, and if those clubs make offers, Sunderland and the player may find it difficult to turn them down. Meanwhile, Brentford is also planning an approach for Bellingham, and it appears that the teenager is headed for the top flight, whether at home or abroad. Sunderland will be hoping Bellingham refuses those advances and stays at the Stadium of Light for as long as possible, since he is now an essential component of Le Bris’ team.

Indeed, if Sunderland can achieve promotion this season, Bellingham’s stay on Wearside could last a lot longer. Failure, however, could see their star man move on very soon.
