Saints looking to make strong impact heading into offseason.
WLOX, NEW ORLEANS, LA – With the New Orleans Saints having missed the playoffs for the third consecutive season, all eyes will be on the players and front office as the offseason progresses.
With a 9-8 overall record at the end of the regular season, the Saints trailed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC South. For more than half of the season, New Orleans was in control of their own fate. They even had an opportunity to secure the NFC South title and a postseason spot going into Week 18, but defeats by the Packers (17-9) and the Panthers (17-6) in Tampa Bay and Carolina would prevent the Saints from winning a divisional title and earning a wild-card spot.
Head coach Dennis Allen stated that he needs to examine his aging roster more closely because, while he values the experience, he also wants to bring in some young.
Allen stated, “I think we definitely need to keep adding some young pieces to our roster.” There seems to be a good number of veterans present. I believe that some seasoned athletes are still capable of giving their all.
“As you do every year, we’ll look at ways in which we can do that. I think we also need to incorporate some more youth and talent on our team.” In terms of Allen’s future in New Orleans, he anticipates returning,
