Irish In The NFL (2023-24): Quarterbacks

NFL (2023–24): Quarterbacks from Ireland

Book was a surprise fourth-round selection by the Saints after he passed for almost nine thousand yards and seventy-two touchdowns at Notre Dame, along with another 1,500 yards on the ground and seventeen rushing scores. With the Chiefs, his fourth team in three years, he is still going strong in the NFL.

Irish Illustrated begins its homage to the forty-five former Notre Dame players who played in the NFL in 2023 this weekend, coinciding with the start of the playoffs.

By utilizing the word “participated,” we’ve incorporated everyone who took part in practices, was placed on injured reserve, or played in games.

By position: 1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 4 wide receivers, 5 tight ends, 10 offensive linemen, 7 defensive linemen, 4 linebackers, 2 cornerbacks, 6 safeties, 2 kickers and 2 long-snappers.

We launch our annual recap with the quarterbacks. Ian Book is the lone Irish quarterback currently in the NFL.

In August of 2022, the Saints waived Book, and the Eagles claimed him off waivers. The Eagles waived him in August of 23. He signed a contract with the Patriots two weeks later, and five days later, he was released. Book and the Chiefs inked a reserve/futures contract on Wednesday, January 10.
