It has been a difficult start to Ipswich Town’s first season in the Premier League in twenty-two years. Kieran McKenna’s team is in the relegation zone despite their remarkable draws against Manchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Aston Villa, as well as their away victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
But with over half of the season left, the Tractor Boys have a good chance of dragging themselves to safety, especially with the amazing Liam Delap at the front.
Reports from last month that the club is pursuing another young player who may be the next Delap should excite supporters, as the 21-year-old poacher has been one of the season’s acquisitions.
Liam Delap’s season so far
Even though Delap’s summer transfer fee of roughly £20 million seems like a great deal now, there was no assurance that he would be popular.
After all, he only played eight minutes in the 21/22 season and 39 minutes in the 20/21 season while he was a member of Manchester City.
Though he didn’t start the season on fire, the Winchester-born poacher has now amassed an impressive total of six goals and one assist in 16 appearances, which equates to a goal involvement every 2.28 games. Fortunately for McKenna and the supporters of Ipswich, the poacher has been outstanding in his first full season of Premier League football.
