Although James Tavernier was previously admitted to the Ibrox Hall of Fame, some believe that the Rangers captain still needs additional awards to go on his resume in order to be considered a true club legend.

Along with Allan McGregor and Steven Davis, the Englishman was inducted into the Hall of Fame in

February of last year, and he has since added to his incredible record of goals and assists.

With 435 games played for Light Blue, Tavernier has 117 goals and 123 assists. His figures are even more

impressive considering that he plays right back.

Alan Hutton was another player for Rangers who suited up on the right side of defense and had an

incredibly successful time there.

In his own words, “It’s mental.” I suppose I scored five goals in my career; he has 118 goals for the

Rangers. He receives flak for his defense, but I believe it has improved with time.

He gives you amazing things moving forward. The fact that you are asking modern full-backs to do

something different will cause them to become distracted by the pitch.

You’re asking them to launch an assault. There will be times when you are taken by surprise.

However, I believe he is a leader. He handles a lot; I believe that outside noise and fans put a lot of strain

on him, but he does a great job handling it all.

“In some people’s eyes he will still go down as a legend. Others will place question marks next to each

participant. In the end, it matters what you have won, even though he will be assessed according to his

objectives.

“You consider the past winners who have been there, such as Barry Ferguson.” Observe their actions and

victories.

“He will definitely want to add many more trophies since you will always be up against the likes of that.

In past years, it has been challenging, but under the new manager, there is a winning mindset.

“I believe they can succeed if they can provide quality.” They’re still on track to win more trophies this

year.

Hutton feels some Rangers fans will not grasp the true impact of Tavernier until the day he quits Ibrox

Stadium.

“It’s been documented that he’s been playing with niggles,” he went on. He’s incredibly strong; the only

thing I really remember about him is that he was hurt when Nathan Patterson got his break.

He’s available at all times. Regardless of whether he receives criticism or not, he is constantly in the

spotlight.

“Considering all he has faced, his performance at the Rangers has been remarkable.”

Rangers will eventually have to consider the future, and you usually don’t realize how lucky you are until

something is taken away.

“So, after two or three years, you might assume that the new player isn’t providing you with as many

goals, penalties, or crosses into the box as the previous one was.

“Then you realize that was a true gem you had there.”

Both Tavernier and fellow full-back Borna Barisic are nearing the end of their Rangers careers, so as they

look to the future, the team will undoubtedly be keen to add fresh talent.

Josh Doig, a former Hibs player who is currently playing in Verona, Italy, has been connected to Philippe

Clement’s team in recent weeks. Hutton believes that if his former club could finalize a deal, Doig would

be a great addition. He asserted, “I believe they are already considering the future.” “Also, Borna Barisic

is not getting any younger. Look at him.

It was always going to be Yilmaz. He’s performed quite well lately, but if he wants to play every week, I

believe he needs to make some improvements.

“That position is up in the air because Barisic’s contract expires at the end of the season and there have

been rumors that he might move on.” They’ll need to find a way to let someone in.

“It has been Barisic and Tavernier bombing forward and delivering crosses into the box for Gerrard, van

Bronkhorst, and Beale.

“They had a significant impact on how the Rangers played.” Rangers performed well if they performed

well. However, everything ends, so it would be foolish of you to not make arrangements.

“When Doig was a Hibs player, I saw him. A young talent with a lot of potential. There was opportunity

for development.

He was that forward-thinking full-back of today. He was a terrific size, aggressive, and strong.

Since he relocated to Italy, I haven’t seen him all that often. It’s clear he’s headed in the right direction if

he’s progressed from his Hibs days.

“I believe he could handle it, therefore he checks all the boxes to join a team like the Rangers.

“Going to Italy will have helped him with his defense; as an attacking full-back, you can only get better if you can add those kinds of qualities to your game.

That full-back is an all-around player.

When Rangers resume play after the winter break, they will be competing on all fronts, and confidence is

strong because the League Cup trophy is already housed in the Ibrox trophy cabinet.

The team will compete in the Scottish Premiership title race as well as a Scottish Cup run, and they have

already clinched a last-16 position in the Europa League.
