Ex-Everton Scout hits out at Sean Dyche complaints with new windfall on cards

Bryan King thinks that Sean Dyche, the manager of Everton, cannot begrudgingly forced to play an FA Cup replay against Crystal Palace.

The Toffees will meet the Eagles at Goodison Park on Wednesday (17 January) after the clubs drew their third-round clash 0-0. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was sent off for Everton during last Thursday’s (4 January) Premier League match between the two teams, although the ruling has now been reversed.

“The managers are not happy, but the FA Cup is the only thing they’ve got left, Crystal Palace and Everton, so I don’t know what they’re complaining about. It’s one game, they’re not playing in Europe or the League Cup.

“I simply believe that the FA Cup replay is a custom. I’m just relieved that the FA Cup still follows the original rules and doesn’t go to penalties after the first game.

“I appreciate that clubs are given another opportunity and some additional funding. I really believe that the TV ought to start focusing on assisting teams in the lower leagues. Eastleigh or Newport County will have a great opportunity to win; the victors will meet Manchester United in their cup final.

Replay scrapping has already been experimented with. The FA Cup’s third round was largely completed in a single day; however, it is now being played.
