NFC Wild Card Breakdown: Cowboys vs. Packers.
Since the Saints won’t be making the playoffs for the third consecutive year, this weekend will be stress-free and filled with classic postseason football.
There are many exciting games this weekend, but the Dallas Cowboys versus. Green Bay Packers game caught my attention in particular. There are still some fantastic storylines going into this one, even though my dad is a Cowboys fan and my brother is a Packers fan.
Jordan Love is the first one in line. Even Aaron Rodgers was unable to lead the Packers to the postseason in his final season as a starter. This year, he has succeeded in doing so. Love, who totaled 4,406 yards and 36 touchdowns at the end of the season,
Mike McCarthy’s storyline is another one to follow. Despite leading the Cowboys to three straight 12-5 seasons in his fourth season as head coach, he remains under fire. He might be gone if he doesn’t succeed this year, whether it’s a Super Bowl or an NFC Championship birth. Not to mention that he spent 13 seasons coaching the Packers.
In our society, a coach who has finished 12-5 in three straight seasons is coaching in the postseason to keep his job because he is unable to win the championship. Even though Dennis Allen has played more than 70 games and has the sixth worst record of any coach, his job security has never been in question. However, this
This game should be a pretty high scoring affair. The Cowboys lead the NFL in points per game, scoring an average of 29.9 PPG while the Packers rank 12th in the league with 22.5 PPG.
The only thing that could cause this to change is Dallas’ defense. The Cowboys rank fifth in the NFL in PPG allowed, giving up just 18.5 PPG. However, when the Cowboys have played a top-10 offense (7 times), they’ve given up an average of 25 PPG. I know the Packers are ranked 12th, but they’re more than capable of being a top-10 offense when they’re on, plus, the Cowboys tend to mess things up in the playoffs.
I secretly believe that the Cowboys will prevail in this game. Although they have far more experience and are a more well-rounded squad than the Packers, I still have a strong desire to choose the latter. After CJ Stroud, Jordan Love has been one
I’m going to formally choose the Packers in this one just for kicks. Other than what my instinct tells me, there are no statistics to support this. I know I’ll look foolish and the Cowboys will win by a margin of more than 20, but I don’t care because I’m riding with.
