After just six months of a bad run, Sam Lammers was sent out of the Rangers.

Sam Lammers has spoken up about his awful six-month stint at Rangers, admitting that his goal total wasn’t high enough after going on loan to Utrecht at the beginning of the window.

Lammers arrived in the Scottish Premiership with low expectations after failing to live up to expectations at Atalanta after moving to Italy. However, his Eredivisie stints with PSV Eindhoven and Heerenveen were sufficient to raise eyebrows.

Let’s just say that didn’t happen; Rangers supporters questioned Lammers’ ability after he scored just two goals in 31 games across all competitions. Additionally, with Abdallah Sima playing brilliantly and Ross McCausland’s rise pushing him down the ladder, Lammers struggled to establish himself by the end of the year. Lammers, who traveled back to his native country on a loan, acknowledged he wasn’t good enough, but he’s still happy to be playing football and understands he has to improve before deciding on his next course of action.

Speaking to Dutch media, Lammers acknowledged that his time in Glasgow wasn’t long enough, but he also said that it would be preferable to “stay in one place” as opposed to going out on loan. Despite this, he acknowledged that he would prefer to end his time there.

Regarding his goal total, the attacker commented, “Too little.” Although I am aware that those numbers are considered when selecting a striker, you may have additional significance.”

Additionally, he said, “You shouldn’t think like that, it doesn’t make you happy,” in response to being reminded of how dismal his recent transfers had been during the previous several seasons. You never know how a different course of events may have played out. I have fought against being demoted, earned awards, and gained a great deal of experience. Transferring to a different club made sense.
