Everton Have Set Their Sights on This Ligue 1 Forward: What Will He Bring to Merseyside?

Iliman Ndiaye of Olympique Marseille is the player that Everton has set their sights on this month, according to a recent report from L’Equipe. The Toffees are apparently interested in the Senegalese striker’s services come January, per sources.

Ndiaye’s Decent Campaign in Ligue 1

Ndiaye has caught the eye at times at the French club this season but has struggled to be consistent in front of the opponent’s goal. The 23-year-old has registered one goal and three assists in 23 appearances for Marseille during this campagin across multiple competitions.

The Senegalese sensation has given a good account of himself in the opposition half as he is averaging 1.1 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game in Ligue 1. He has even been tidy when interchanging possession with his teammates after making 81.8% of his attempted passes in the French first division (stats via who scored).

Ndiaye’s current deal at Marseille will run out in the summer of 2028 which would make it difficult for the Toffees to arrange a cut-price move for him this winter.

What Will Ndiaye Bring To Everton?

Ndiaye is able to clear a yard of space so that he may land some strikes on aim. When it comes to the offensive end of the ball, he can set up some attractive opportunities for those around him. The Senegalese talent is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. Although his primary position is center forward, he can also fill in as an attacking midfielder when necessary.

Ndiaye’s time at Sheffield United has given him a thorough understanding of English football. But when it comes to the final third, he is not a consistent goal scorer. Nonetheless, Ndiaye ought to provide Everton’s front line more punch. He has what it takes to compete for a regular starting spot at Goodison Park in the next seasons.

Ndiaye, who is 23 years old, has a bright career ahead of him, but if Sean Dyche is successful in signing him this January, he will need some time to get used to the high intensity and physicality of Premier League football.
