Portsmouth boss John Mousinho felt his side were on the wrong end of a decision to disallow a goal in the second half of their goalless draw with Norwich City.
After Angus Gunn knocked the ball into his path from the first cross, Connor Ogilvie scored from a corner, but
referee Andrew Kitchen ruled that winger Matt Ritchie had fouled City’s goalie.
It turned out to be a game-changing moment in a night with little goalmouth action, and Mousinho believed the
referees had erred in their decision.
“It’s easy for me to say because I’ve seen it back, but Matt Ritchie is by the goalie; Angus Gunn pushes him and puts
two hands on him, so it’s either a goal or a penalty. After the altercation, he told reporters, “I don’t understand why
it’s been prohibited.”
“I had a nice discussion about it with the referee. To be fair, I felt the referee was excellent throughout the entire
evening.
