Manuel Benson, another Burnley star with an uncertain return date, hasn’t played for the team since August and doesn’t seem to be close to recovering from a calf tear sustained against fierce rivals Blackburn Rovers.

Parker was quick to reiterate that he is not yet close to returning to the pitch, despite confirming prior to the Boro game that he was progressing well on his road to recovery.

Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey, who has been out for nearly a year, was another player Parker said was progressing well but was still far from making a comeback to competitive football.

After sustaining a serious knee injury early in the season, Ryan Nyambe, a longer-term absence for Derby, might not play for the Rams again this season.

The Blackburn Rovers academy graduate is one of the few certainties to miss Derby’s match, although it will undoubtedly be painful for him to do so.
