“Rangers are after another striker” – Gers insider drops exciting transfer claim

“It’s quite clear…” – Heart and Hand drop Rangers striker update amid Michy Batshuayi rumours.

After Cyriel Dessers was placed on standby for the African Cup of Nations, Rangers are waiting to know if they will be down to only one striker.

Prior to Nigeria’s injury issue, it was obvious that Gers manager Philippe Clement needed reinforcements up front, but that need may now be even larger.

Fabio Silva would be left on his own if the Rangers were to be without Cyriel Dessers, but fortunately, David Edgar, who was speaking on Heart and Hand’s daily update, had some good news.

Rangers looking for more firepower than Cyriel Dessers

Joe Gelhardt is a new name that has lately surfaced. Edgar clarified that there is a reason why other names have been mentioned, even though he wasn’t impressed with this link:

“Rangers are obviously pursuing another striker.”

When it comes to transfers, Heart and Hand is as good as the club’s spokesperson; it is often used to refute reports of transfers or to give clarification.

Silva has already signed, despite prior transfer rumours indicating that just one forward would be arriving.

But as Chris Boyd pointed out, if we want to seize more of the opportunities that are presented, we need to prioritize finding a more natural goal scorer.

Lawrence Shankland continues to be mentioned but, other than the Scotland international, it is more wide players like Emmanuel Dennis and Million Manhoef that have been tipped for moves.

Dennis is the more versatile of the two and played through the middle for Watford on occasion but he’s hardly the type of player that Boyd thinks we should be targeting.

This isn’t totally accurate, though, and Boyd should be happy by the recent news that has surfaced relating Michy Batshuayi since, if the report is accurate, he is the kind of striker the Sky Sports analyst is referring to.

Silva is a great beginning for the window, but in spite of the rumours, ten days have gone and no new acquisitions have been made as of yet.

If we want to win the league, we really can’t afford to leave it all up to Cyriel Dessers and Fabio Silva. Hopefully, Edgar is correct and the Rangers add another forward.
