Colts Sign Former Saints Starter, Two Others to Contracts

In preparation for the pivotal 2024 off season, the Indianapolis Colts are still making moves to strengthen their roster in critical positions.

Former Michigan State Spartan Brooks played as an undrafted free agent for the Arizona Cardinals in 2023. His undergraduate career started at North Greenville University, but he ended up playing cornerback for MSU in the Big Ten, where he recorded 109 tackles, 4 pass defenses, and 3 forced fumbles.

What happens next for the Colts?

Tutsie’s name may be familiar to Colts fans, as he signed to Indy as an undrafted free agent last season out of North Dakota State. As a member of the Bison, he was electric, putting together an impressive career of 338 tackles, 22 pass defenses, 11 interceptions, and 68 games of experience as a safety. One other fact is he went to Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, so he knows the franchise quite well.

After how bad Rodney Thomas II looked in his sophomore season as a free safety in 2023, the contracts of Brooks and Tutsie could put more competition into the safety position for Indy.

Finally, there is the guard, Kidd. The former Montana State Bobcat was with Indy on the practice squad last season but was released two months later in mid-December.Kidd was able to play and potentially start for the Saints in 2022. This is a smart idea to continue strengthening protection with a rookie quarterback like Anthony Richardson entering year two, especially with offensive line depth being so crucial.
