Lewis Ferguson Rangers transfer ‘regret’ as pundit baffled by missed Ibrox chance

Before he left Aberdeen in 2022, Gers made the decision not to pursue a contract for the Scotland international.

Lewis Ferguson was never pursued by the Rangers before he joined Bologna, and Alan Hutton says he’s puzzled by this.

Ferguson, the son of former Rangers player Derek, has distinguished himself in Italy since moving there from Aberdeen in 2022.

The 24-year-old has elevated his play to a new level and surpassed Denis Law’s record with Tornio to become the highest-scoring Scot in Serie A

history. Juventus is taking notice of the former Hamilon Accies youngster, who has scored 11 goals in the Italian top division thus far.

A boyhood Rangers fan, Hutton still can’t believe that the Light Blues decided against pursuing a deal for the Scotland international during his time

at Pittodrie. And Hutton has warned Philippe Clement not to make the same mistake as his predecessors as he urged the Ibrox boss to scout homegrown talent.

“Lewis Ferguson is definitely one of them. He’s gone over there and it can’t be easy. But you listen to him doing his interviews now and he’s speaking the language and seems really settled.

“He’s battling to make the Scotland squad and is only getting stronger. Rangers would be better right now with someone like that on staff.

I believe they have therefore been let down. There have been others as well, such Aaron Hickey and Josh Doig, who went over.

“There have been a ton of them. Is it the explanation, or did they simply favour other targets because they were a little younger and didn’t trust

them? I’m not sure. Rangers and Celtic are better, in my opinion, if they consider adding these players.

Michy Batshuayi set for Rangers transfer talks as one-time £33m striker emerges as January target

According to reports, Rangers is aiming for a spectacular move for Michy Batshuayi, a goal machine from Belgium.

The former Chelsea forward Batshuayi has surfaced as a viable alternative for Philippe Clement, who is eager to expand his attacking options.

This information is reported by the Scottish Sun. The 30-year-old is reportedly scheduled to have talks wit

h the Light Blues over the next 24 hours regarding the prospect of enticing him to Glasgow on a short-term contract.

Batshuayi is set to leave Fenerbahce after failing to agree a new contract with the Turkish giants and Gers are said to be one of a number of clubs

interested in a loan deal, with Everton also keen. The capture of Batshuayi would be a massive coup for Rangers and their title ambitions, and his marquee arrival would certainly excite fans given his goalscoring exploits throughout his career.

After establishing himself at Standard Liege and Marseille, Batshuayi—who has 27 goals in 54 appearances for Belgium—won an incredible £33

million transfer to Chelsea in 2016. In addition to scoring 25 goals for the Stamford Bridge team, he had loan stints at Valencia, Crystal Palace, Borussia Dortmund, and Besiktas.

After eight goals this season for Fenerbahce, the striker may be about to make the dramatic move to Scotland to join Fabio Silva at the head of

Rangers’ championship challenge.
