Cowboys top scout Will McClay drawing general manager interest from Panthers, Commanders
Will McClay, vice president of player personnel, has previously declined offers to leave the Dallas Cowboys.
Even so, he continues to be mentioned as a top contender for general manager of the NFL. The dance then starts up again.
Reports verify that the Washington Commanders and Carolina Panthers have asked McClay for permission to discuss
their vacancies for general managers.
McClay’s track record of success since taking over the Cowboys scouting department in 2014 has been well chronicled. Among the Pro Bowls drafted under McClay’s tenure include guard Zack Martin, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, cornerback
Byron Jones, quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott, linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, cornerback Trevon Diggs, receiver CeeDee
Lamb and linebacker Micah Parsons and center
Biadasz Tyler. He has strengthened the foundation of the club that has won 12 games in a row by supplementing his drafts with strong free agency picks.
