Gers ‘show interest’ in £50m star who is playing at ‘optimal level’
Rangers are one of three clubs in France reportedly interested in Fenerbahce winger Oguz Aydin.
The approaching January transfer window has sparked speculation about how the Ibrox side will approach it. Philippe Clement has confirmed that transfer conversations are underway.
Several names, such Kwame Poku and Carney Chukwuemeka, have recently gained popularity.
Rangers’ interest in Turkish winger Oguz Aydin, who is a fan of Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho, is particularly noteworthy.

Rangers are reportedly’showing interest’ in Oguz Aydin’s position, along with Ligue 1 team Stade Rennais and Greek Super League club AEK Athens.
French website Le Courrier Europeen has provided an update on the 24-year-old winger’s future.
Oguz Aydin, a natural right-footed winger, can also play on the left. His arrival at Fenerbahce in the summer marked the end of ex-Ibrox winger Ryan Kent’s time there.
The Istanbul club spent a reported (€6 million) £5 million to recruit Aydin from Alanyaspor, and the French source suggests that a similar price would be necessary to sign the winger in January.
That’s despite Aydin signing a contract with Fenerbahce until 2028 and recently emerging as a Turkish Super Lig challenger.
According to reports, Aydin is seen as a player with significant ‘development potential’ and, as such, would fit into Rangers’ revised player trade model.
However, while it is an intriguing link for Rangers fans, recent statements from Jose Mourinho suggest that it is a transfer that, on the surface, appears to be extremely ambitious.
Jose Mourinho praises Rangers ‘transfer target’
Oguz Aydin has had a mixed season at Fenerbahce since signing for €6 million (£5 million) from Alanyaspor in the summer.
Aydin, who was born in the Netherlands and played for the Turkish national team, appeared in only 22 minutes of the first 12 Super Lig games, as Mourinho favored Allan Saint-Maximin.
However, in recent games, the winger has begun to turn the trend, with an amazing double and assist performance in a 6-2 victory over Kayserispor.
Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho praised Oguz Aydin’s effect since joining the club this summer, after he scored again in the 3-1 victory over Gaziantep.
In comments that will have Rangers supporters and everyone else questioning a prospective move, the Special One praised Aydin for reaching his ‘ideal level’ earlier than planned.
Mourinho also argues that teams that did not sign Oguz Aydin this summer, including Besiktas and Ajax, will now regret their decision.
Mourinho described Aydin as “a good player physically, tactically, and very intelligent” in early December, according to Marca.
“With all due respect to (Vincenzo) Montella [Turkey manager], he should be pleased. I assume the team who didn’t sign him will be disappointed.
“We got him in at the last minute.I asked him to give me some time. He was not prepared, but after 4-5 months, he has reached peak performance. I’m very thrilled for him.”
