Saints star DE gives simple explanation for whether he’ll retire

The only organization Cameron Jordan has ever played for, the New Orleans Saints, offered him a two-year contract extension in August 2023.

Despite having one season remaining on his contract, the 34-year-old’s remarks on Monday give the impression that he may play in the NFL after

2024.

Having missed just one game in each of the previous two campaigns, Jordan dressed for all 17 games in the regular season. In his 13-year career, he

has only missed just two games between the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

The former first-round pick played a career-low 771 defensive snaps in 2023, which resulted in lower numbers overall. Jordan had the fewest QB hits

(six), tackles (43), and tackles overall at the end of the season.

Even so, there’s no denying the eight-time Pro Bowler’s stamina and seasoned leadership, and he probably can’t wait to return to the postseason for

the first time since 2020.

Between 2011 and 2020, Jordan and the Saints appeared in the postseason six times, including four times in a row towards the close of the season.

Since then, the team has placed 9-8 in the NFC South and 7-10 in third place during Dennis Allen’s first season as head coach.

Jordan is among the top defensive players in team history; he ranks fourth in passes defended (61), has the franchise record for quarterback hits

(225), and tackles for loss (153).
