Fans fuming after Martin aims ‘cheer’ dig at travelling supporters

Russell Martin, the manager of SAINTS, infuriated the fans with a weird jab at the away fans after his team lost 1-0

to Aston Villa.

and we concede within about 10 seconds, so it is what it is,” stated Martin in an interview with BBC Radio Solent.

“They are free to critique everything else, but it’s crucial to comprehend the motivations behind our actions. It

When supporters risked the weather of Storm Darragh to follow Saints to the Midlands, they were left feeling

confused and incensed at the perceived slight.

Although Martin did not ‘blame’ supporters for the goal as some have suggested – he only pointed out a fact – it is an

unwise dig.

Saints have won fewer points (five) after 15 matches than Derby County did in 2007/08, when they went on to set

the Premier League’s record lowest points total.

When asked about his future, Martin said, “It is not in my control, what is in my control is the energy I can give my
