Everton youngster taken to hospital as club await further news on injury – ‘it’s horrible to see’

Stanley Mills, a winger for Everton, may have had a catastrophic injury while on loan at Oxford United.

In order to obtain regular senior experience, the 20-year-old joined the League One team at the beginning of the season. Mills has made 27 appearances for Oxford during their playoff run, contributing seven assists and one goal.

The son of former England player Danny Mills, there are concerns that Mills might miss the rest of the season due to injury. He was helped off the field during Oxford’s 6-2 FA Cup loss to Coventry City last weekend after tripping during a late first-half shooting attempt. After receiving care for a few minutes on the field, Mills was transported to the hospital.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, U’s manager Des Buckingham said: “It’s horrible to see any player carried off on a stretcher, clutching his knee. “I’m not a medical expert and I don’t even think that the guys who have taken him off will know exactly what it might be, but all we can do is surround him with the care of the medical team.

He’s receiving the best care possible thanks to Coventry’s medical team, who have been really helpful. They’ve transported him to the hospital, where he’s with his parents and some of our staff. We’ll provide more details on him as soon as we have them.Mills is anticipated to resume his recuperation at Everton’s Finch Farm training facility. Two of the England youth international’s senior Toffees appearances have come in the Carabao Cup.
