Here’s how Middlesbrough’s players performed in the 1-1 draw with Burnley: 6 Dieng: Will be frustrated with Burnley’s goal after being caught off his line, but handled several difficult crosses well in the second half.
8 Dijksteel: Carrick demonstrated incredible faith in such an important game, and the right-back delivered. Scored the opening goal and defended brilliantly throughout.
7 Edmundson: Adapted effectively to the conditions and the Burnley attack. Full-time Boro fans serenaded me.
8 Fry: In just his second start after a 10-month layoff, Fry was fantastic. Brave and superb defensive performance. Showed Boro what he had been missing while out injured.
7 Borges: Solid defence and generated an excellent second-half opportunity for
7 Hackney: Sloppy at times in the first half, allowing Roberts to run off him for a goal. Better after the break, and sprayed passes around.
8 Barlaser: Another mature midfield performance. Taking a chance in Morris’ absence. Excellent pass for Dijksteel’s goal, and nearly had a second assist with a cross for Edmundson.
7 Doak: Close to a fantastic first-half goal. He had opportunities in the second half but was unable to force a victory.
7 Azaz: Quiet in the first half, but worked hard to assist the midfield. Following the breakup, influence grew significantly.
6 Burgzorg: He wasted a fantastic opportunity in the second half after Borges singled him out.
6 Conway: A tough night for the striker. There wasn’t much to feed on in the first half. Much more involved in the second half. Trafford saved one striker with ease.

Man of the Match: Dijksteel. Fry was harshly treated, but the goal tilted the Man of the Match award in Dijksteel’s favour. Both defenders have had their disappointing moments, with Fry injured and Dijksteel a fringe player for lengthy stretches, but they were magnificent against Turf Moor.
