Aston Villa receive player stance update after transfer ‘agreement’
The most recent Aston Villa news as Italian clubs continue to challenge Unai Emery’s team for Verona attacker Cyril Ngonge.
The rumored pursuit of Verona winger Cyril Ngonge by Aston Villa may have gained momentum because the player is apparently amenable to going to the Premier League.
Ngonge would require persuasion to relocate to Villa Park, despite reports earlier this week claiming that Villa had reached a verbal “agreement” of €10 million (£8.7 million) for the midfielder.Subsequent reports that surface later in the week indicate that the offer is still pending, implying that it has not been accepted in its whole.
Villa are said to face competition from Serie A side Fiorentina for the 23-year-old, but they are yet to send an offer due to them believing that the valuation by Verona is too high. Corriere dello Sport (via SportWitness ), says that Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano is pushing for the club to make their move for the player.
It is added that Verona are looking for a fee of ‘just under €15 million’ (£12.9m). The report also provides an update on the player’s stance on a possible move this January.
Ngonge reportedly believes that the Italian league is more suited to his talents and “characteristics,” thus while he isn’t entirely opposed to joining the Premier League, it is indicated that he would want to stay in Italy if given the opportunity. For this reason, he feels that staying in Serie A rather than relocating to England would allow him to play more games.
Only at this time last year did Ngonge relocate from Dutch second-tier team FA Groningen to Verona. The Belgian moved to the Netherlands in 2020, however he began his career with Club Brugge.
