Thomas Frank makes ‘unstoppable’ comment after watching Aston Villa up close.

Aston Villa beat Thomas Frnak’s Brentford 3-1 at Villa Park on Wednesday night, ending an eight-game winless streak by scoring three first half goals

Thomas Frank says Aston Villa were ‘unstoppable’ in the first half as they tore through Brentford, eventually winning 3-1 at Villa Park on Wednesday evening. Villa secured three points with first-half goals from Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers, and Matty Cash, bringing a stop to their winless streak.

Villa ended an eight-match streak without a win in any tournament, a form they haven’t been used to under Unai Emery. They now have a chance to win consecutively against struggling Southampton on Saturday.

Frank, who has overseen 19 points secured by the Bees at home this season but just one out of a possible 21 on the road, was not of the belief that the penalty which led to Watkins’ goal, Villa’s second, was indeed a spot kick, even though it was reviewed and confirmed by the VAR. However, he conceded that the decision was immaterial and that, while his side didn’t, Villa turned up.

“The game could have been on in the second half. We played better in the second half than in the first. “The way we responded was good, and we might have had another goal,” he remarked. “I believe Villa were clearly the better team and deserved to win. They achieved a high level, whereas we failed to do so. Sometimes you need quality activity from your key players, which we didn’t have today.

“In my judgment, their sentence does not constitute a penalty. I believe Ollie [Watkins] kicks back and strikes Ethan [Pinnock], but we didn’t lose because of that. “I know how excellent the guys are and how fantastic we can be at times. When you know there’s more in the team and we don’t perform, it’s always upsetting, but Villa were unstoppable.”
