Barring a magical surge with all of the offensive staffing changes, the Las Vegas Raiders have little to play for nine games into the NFL season. The Raiders have a horrible 2-7 record, three below-average quarterbacks, and no motive to win other than pride. They are now in a position where the more they lose, the better their chances of landing a higher choice in the NFL draft. However, the front office and supporters may be looking for the best decision imaginable, Maxx Crosby, an All-Pro pass rusher, may feel differently. Crosby stated on “Let’s Go” that he wants to destroy the seasons of every team that Las Vegas plays. “The reality is we are what our record is, and it’s 2-7, which is not good,” Crosby told reporters. “So I think of it as being the Joker. If we aren’t going to be king of the castle right now, we might as well ruin everyone’s season. And I adore that. “I enjoy being the villain.”
The Raiders will have numerous opportunities to wreck some seasons down the line, whether it’s against divisional rivals like the Denver Broncos or Los Angeles Chargers, or a team like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are hoping to claw their way into the playoffs despite their injuries. Whether or not winning any more games this season will benefit Vegas’ future is a separate discussion. This week, Crosby and the Raiders will have the opportunity to eliminate a team on the outside looking in at the playoff picture: the 2-6 Miami Dolphins, who are expecting to make a run with Tua Tagovailoa back at quarterback.
