Celtic Duo Posted Missing From Friday Training

Celtic may have a defensive puzzle to solve ahead of their Scottish Premiership match against Kilmarnock, with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty appearing to be absent from training on Friday.

The American duo, essential members of Celtic’s backline, played important roles in the team’s 3-1 Champions League triumph over RB Leipzig, but their noteworthy absences throughout preparations have prompted worries.
Trusty seemed to sustain an ankle injury in the first half versus Leipzig but recovered to finish the game, while Carter-Vickers, who had recently returned from a toe injury, was replaced by Liam Scales 15 minutes before the end.

Their likely absence could present a headache for manager Brendan Rodgers, who may have to examine other options to retain defensive consistency.

Rodgers’ options include increasing Liam Scales’ responsibilities or making a rare start for Maik Nawrocki, who has yet to play prominently this season. Stephen Welsh might also step in, providing a tried-and-true domestic option.

However, it is not uncommon for Rodgers to rest crucial players on the final training day, particularly those working on conditioning after an injury or with huge match loads. The absences of Carter-Vickers and Trusty could merely be a precautionary measure, with further information expected during Rodgers’ pre-match press conference this afternoon.
