Gretar Steinsson, the technical director of Leeds United, will soon step down to join 49ers Enterprises, the club’s owner.
An important cog in Leeds The goal of United’s transfer strategy is to depart the team. Gretar Steinsson, the technical director, is already moving on to a new position with 49ers Enterprises, United’s owning company.
Steinsson will remain a technical director for the San Francisco organization, concentrating on player developments, technology, and industry trend analysis, as initially reported by The Athletic. Although the notion hasn’t gained much traction yet, the appointment opens the door to a multi-club model for the 49ers group.
Importantly, LeedsLive is aware that there are presently no plans at Elland Road to replace Steinsson. Jordan Miles, the head of recruitment, has been working closely with the former Tottenham Hotspur manager to oversee player identification for the Whites.
Nick Hammond, Steinsson’s temporary football advisor, has been involved in the negotiations to bring players in and out of the team during the last three transfer windows. Under the general direction of CEO Angus Kinnear, manager Daniel Farke has worked closely with them on transactions.
After Steinsson leaves, the current leadership structure will remain in place. Leeds has Farke, Adam Underwood (head of football operations), Hannah Cox (head of football administration), and Hammond (who is still in a consulting capacity) under Kinnear.
Although Steinsson’s duties will now include all potential 49ers clubs, Leeds will still gain from his efforts. Following Andrea Radrizzani’s takeover last year, Paraag Marathe made a number of hires, including the Icelander.
In 2023, Victor Orta’s rule came to an end before relegation was officially announced. After that, in June, Hammond came to help find a new manager, and in July, Farke signed. Robbie Evans was appointed as the club’s chief operational officer and Morrie Eisenberg as chief strategy officer.
