Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb has high expectations for next contract
CeeDee Lamb, a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, is eligible for a new contract extension and he has high expectations for
what a potential deal will look like. Lamb said on Thursday that his primary focus is winning the Super Bowl next month, but that
after that they will “start talking.” When asked if he would like to be the highest-paid receiver in the NFL, he only responded,
“Ideally, yeah, for sure.” Lamb is still under contract with the Cowboys through his fifth-year option, which was picked up and
carries a salary cap number of over $17 million next season..
Lamb is one of the Cowboys’ most impactful players and one of the NFL’s most productive wide receivers. He has already set a
franchise record this season in receptions (122) and receiving yards (1,651). He has topped the 1,000-yard mark in each of the
past three seasons and the 100-reception mark in each of the past two seasons.
Although Lamb is among the best wide outs Dallas has had in a long time, the team has been reluctant to offer large contracts to
wide receivers in recent years (most notably Amari Cooper).
After the season, the front office should make it a top priority to get him a long-term contract. Lamb’s price tag is certain to
increase further if they hold off until the upcoming season, and he may become enticed to test the open market and demand top cash.
