Sheffield Wednesday’s Championship relegation rivals sack manager with Sheffield United clash imminent

The Championship rivals of Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday have made a significant choice.

After seven years in charge, Coventry City fired manager Mark Robins due to a run of performances that they

claim “have just not been good enough.”

Wednesday night’s 2-1 loss to newly promoted Derby County at home became Coventry’s seventh loss of the

season after just 14 games. The Sky Blues are currently in 17th place, one of six clubs on 15 points, with Plymouth
Argyle at the bottom of that group in the relegation zone. They were predicted to be in or around the
Championship play-off picture again this season.
Nearly eight years ago, Robins took over as manager of Coventry in League Two. He led the team through
consecutive promotions before losing to Luton Town in the 2023 Championship play-off final via penalty
shootout. Last season, the second-tier team advanced to the FA Cup semifinals before falling to eventual winners
Manchester United.

As Coventry considers their next permanent hire, first-team coach Rhyss Carr has been chosen as interim head

coach for the near future. The club was eager to clarify that the position “will be that of Head Coach working

within the new structure set up by the Club over the last two years.” In the near future, the Championship

strugglers will also have a fan’s forum where fans can speak with officials directly.

This weekend, Carr will play his first game as interim manager against Sunderland. Following the November
