Celtic fans were duly entertained during the win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
It’s safe to say that those who traveled to Parkhead were pumped up after the team’s recent performance in Europe.
When Celtic allowed seven goals to Borussia Dortmund, the fans feared the worst since it appeared that the same issues were recurring.
But fast forward to the present, and the tone has completely altered, beginning with Celtic’s clean sheet against Atalanta and progressing to the masterclass against RB Leipzig.
It should be mentioned that the German club began the score, putting some pressure on Brendan Rodgers’ team.
But that’s when you show the world what you’re really made of, and this Celtic team accomplished exactly that.
When Nicolas Kuhn’s amazing curling effort found the back of the net, the commotion inside the stadium was deafening, and the opposition players had nowhere to breathe.
Is there a better spot to watch European nights than Celtic Park?
Mark Chapman wowed by the noise generated by Celtic fans during the win over RB Leipzig
There were numerous significant games and interesting results throughout this Champions League game week.
Inter defeated Arsenal 1-0 at the San Siro, PSG was defeated right at the end by Atletico Madrid, and AC Milan showed up in the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring three goals and taking the points.
Xabi Alonso, a club legend, returned to Anfield, but his Bayer Leverkusen side was defeated 4-0 by Liverpool.
However, Mark Chapman believes there was no louder venue in the Champions League this week than Parkhead vs Leipzig, as reported by Match of the Day.
The BBC commentator remarked that ‘the roof came off at points’ and praised’star man’ Kuhn for his brace.
“Not sure there was a louder stadium in the Champions League over the last two nights than that one,” Chapman observed. “The roof came off at times and no doubt who their star man was, Nicolas Kuhn.”
Celtic’s remaining Champions League fixtures
As you can expect, the Champions League table is pretty tight, with only two points separating Celtic in 15th and Barcelona in sixth.
There is a strong belief that Scotland’s champions will not only secure a play-off berth, but may also finish in the top eight.
Four Champions League games remain, with Club Brugge up next on home turf after defeating Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
Then it’s an away journey to Croatia to face Dinamo Zagreb on December 10, followed by a Christmas break before Celtic’s final home game against Young Boys on January 22.
Then there’s the all-British match between Aston Villa and Celtic at Villa Park on January 29; you feel something will still be on the line when that game rolls along.
