Even from companies that marketed themselves as “sterile,” the Food and Drug Administration found that germs invaded more than half of samples taken from permanent cosmetic ink products and over a quarter from tattoo ink products. Their results are only the latest in a string of FDA studies that have shown contamination in body inks that are marketed in the US.
