Tottenham crushed Aston Villa 4-1 in the capital this afternoon, but Unai Emery claimed he wasn’t concerned about how the game ended.
After Tottenham failed to handle Lucas Digne’s corner, Morgan Rogers scored the game’s first goal from close range in the 32nd minute. However, Spurs were a completely different team in the second half and quickly levelled through Brennan Johnson.
James Maddison scored a free kick in the sixth minute of extra time after Dominic Solanke had already scored twice inside four minutes of the half.
“I am not really worried about it because it could happen because of how the match was going and after [scoring] they were in the best position to play feeling comfortable,” Emery stated.
“Those players were really reliable at the level we required following Matty Cash’s [injury] issue and Morgan Rodgers’ kick. The team was different after making the required adjustments.
“Even tactically, as with two forwards, we need to strive to have alternative possibilities with the players. We must continue practicing in our own manner because, in addition to gaining the finest performance from the players, we may occasionally need to go into other tactical scenarios.
“They are a strong team, but we knew how to win here and we won twice. Despite our disappointment and frustration, we are embracing it. The league is quite competitive, there are 38 games, and we know our way.”
