Everton could get an injury boost ahead of their trip to Southampton this weekend.
Sean Dyche’s side is now five points ahead of the bottom three after drawing with Fulham last weekend.
Everton could still be missing many players this weekend, with Dwight McNeil doubtful due to an injury. However, McNeil was not the only Everton player to leave the game against Fulham last weekend with an injury issue.
The Toffees tested the grass one last time before heading south, providing an insight into who could be available for selection.
Abdoulaye Doucoure spotted in Everton training amid injury concerns.
According to The Athletic, midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is doubtful for the weekend encounter due to an injury. However, on Friday, the Mali international was observed during Everton’s training session at Goodison Park.
The club published a photo of the players in a huddle, with Dyche leading the team talk in the centre.
Doucoure may be seen on the left of the shot, standing close to Beto, with other images of the midfielder available on the club’s website.
Doucoure leads most of Europe in tackles made.
Doucoure has undoubtedly been a busy guy while playing for Everton, who have sat at the bottom of the standings for the past few years.
Doucoure, who cost £20 million, has made significant progress under Dyche this season, starting seven league games.
However, during the past 365 days, the Mali international has surpassed the majority of Europe’s midfielders, ranking in the 99th percentile for tackles made.
Last 365 days (Per 90) | Total | Percentile |
Tackles | 1.46 | 99 |
Passes attempted | 30.80 | 90 |
Interceptions | 0.38 | 86 |
Given his defensive performances for Everton, his participation in Friday’s training session will be a significant boost for the Toffees as they prepare for the journey south.
