Cowboys Have Signed Veteran Linebacker To Practice Squad.
The Dallas Cowboys, who own an 11-5 record, are competing fiercely for the NFC East title and may not quite resemble the overwhelming force that many believed them to be a few weeks ago.
Their defense has been lacking lately, as seen by the narrow one-point victory over the Detroit Lions they had just the day before. On Saturday, Detroit amassed 420 total yards of offense.
According to Jeremy Fowler, the Cowboys have hired linebacker Damien Wilson in an effort to strengthen their defense.
Although Wilson has eight seasons of NFL experience, he hasn’t yet donned a uniform this year.
He was originally a fourth-round draft choice of the Cowboys back in 2015, and after serving as a backup during his rookie season, he started 22 games over the next three years.
He moved on to the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2019 campaign, and that season, he earned himself a Super Bowl championship ring while starting in each game.
Wilson spent 2021 with the Jacksonville Jaguars and 2022–2023 with the Carolina Panthers.
Despite not being a member of any club, the NFL suspended him for four games earlier this season when he was arrested in 2022 on suspicion of assault.
Wilson has 419 tackles (266 solo), 9.0 sacks, 24 tackles for loss, and 19 quarterback hits in 127 career games. He can play both inside and outside linebacker.
His signing by Dallas follows the acquisition of three-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro First Team pick Shaquille Leonard by the division rival Philadelphia Eagles almost a month earlier.
