Sheffield Wednesday now rank 1st in the Championship in one amazing statistic after Derby County

Sheffield Wednesday are making a nice habit of coming from behind in games, doing so in their last outing against Derby County.

Sheffield Wednesday were awful in the first half, but impressive in the second.
That opening 45 was the worst we’ve seen from the Owls this season. But their second-half performance exemplified all that is terrific about Wednesday under Danny Rohl.

Barry Bannan silenced Derby County fans with a magnificent long-range goal before Jamal Lowe struck a late victory.

Following the win, Wednesday is now in 12th place in the Championship table, just five points below the top six.

The three points also make history, since it is Sheffield Wednesday’s first win at Pride Park since 2006.

And it was a triumph that propelled Sheffield Wednesday to the top of the Championship in one remarkable statistic.

The Owls appear to be finding form on the road right now, having won four of their past five away games.

And with their win at Derby County, they are now seventh in the Championship away form standings, having gained 13 points out of a possible 27.

That is only three fewer than Burnley, who have the league’s best away record so far this season.

Meanwhile, the Owls are 18th in the home form table, having scored 12 points out of a possible 27 at Hillsborough this season.

That appears to be a key area for Rohl’s team to work on, and they may get started against Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls host Paul Heckingbottom’s side at 12:30pm, with a win potentially propelling Wednesday into play-off contention.
