Hamilton agree deal to sign Rangers midfielder Ben Williamson as permanent Ibrox exit edges closer

The Daily Record reports that Ben Williamson is about to ink a contract with Hamilton as a permanent move from Rangers approaches.

The newspaper said on Wednesday, December 3, at 11:40 a.m., via its live transfer feed that the 22-year-old Scottish midfielder is expected to sign a contract with the League One team, who are looking to bolster their promotion bid by adding players.

The Gers academy product has been sent out on loan several times over the past three years, with his six-month loan spell at Championship outfit Partick Thistle ending this week.

No surprise

The news that Williamson is getting closer to leaving Rangers after failing to make an impression on the starting lineup at Ibrox is not shocking.

Despite being out on loan to five different teams in the last three years, he has never managed to make a senior appearance since emerging through the ranks of the club.

Partick decided not to extend his sixth-month loan spell with them after he only made seven starts for the club in his 12 outings in the first half of this campaign at Firhill Stadium.

The midfielder is of little use to the Gers, therefore it’s unlikely they will get much, if any, in the way of a transfer fee.

Since it’s obvious he has no future in Glasgow, the Light Blues are probably just eager to let him go and play regular first-team football elsewhere.
