In an unexpected twist of destiny, former Leeds United hero Archie Grey could rejoin with former Leeds Director of Football Victor Orta.

Grey heartbreakingly departed Leeds for Tottenham Hotspur after the West Yorkshire club failed to earn promotion to the Premier League, losing in the play-off final to Southampton.

Since making the switch, he has struggled for playing time, and Orta has spotted an opportunity, positioning his present club Seville to make a move for Grey, which Leeds fans would like to see their best friend get together with their ex-wife.

However, this has spurred speculation that Leeds United could step in and make a play for him instead.

Before the trip to Bristol City, United manager Daniel Farke had a press conference during which this matter was discussed. He stated, “I don’t speak about other players who are under contract with other clubs. I’m hesitant to comment on somebody who is no longer under contract. Our fingers are crossed for Archie and his entire career. If you want a referral, he already has my phone number, but I keep what I propose very discreet.

“It’s always a challenge if you join a top eight Premier League club, top class players in positions, players who are signed for incredible money, all want to play,” Farke told reporters. “Archie was involved in preseason and has played in several Europa League matches.

“Out of 30 players, only 11 can start a game. I did not anticipate an 18-year-old second-tier player to take the Premier League by storm. In the early part of the season, I believe Archie impressed me to the greatest extent possible. It is not my place to criticise his performances, and I do not want to get involved in any speculation now that he has left us. I don’t think it’s classy to do so.”
