Everton keeping tabs on West Brom star ahead of potential winter swoop

West Brom winger Tom Fellows has Everton on his trail ahead of the January transfer window, reporter Alan Nixon has revealed.

West Brom have seen winger Fellows become one of their standout players over the course of 2024.

He had started to emerge in the first-team picture around this time last year but the New Year brought around chances in the starting XI, and the 21-year-old hasn’t looked back since.

Fellows has five assists in 12 Championship appearances so far this season and has emerged as one of the league’s most exciting attacking prospects. Unsurprisingly, that hasn’t gone unnoticed with Premier League clubs linked before.

Now, writing on his Patreon, reporter Alan Nixon states that Everton continue to keep an eye on the West Brom prodigy as they look to bolster their attacking options in January.

The Toffees are still waiting on a takeover which would free up more funds but Fellows is among those being checked on as a potential step up to the top-flight awaits.

Tied down long-term

West Brom are a club looking to make it back to the Premier League and keeping Fellows could be key to that. He’s an asset both on the pitch and financially, and his stock will only grow as he keeps developing.

The Baggies are more than aware of that, hence why they acted in January to tie him down to a new long-term deal at The Hawthorns.

Fellows penned a deal until the summer of 2027. It means there’s no pressure to cash in now to avoid risk of losing him on the cheap and it puts the club in the power position should other teams come in for him when the January transfer window comes around.

Could a sale help?

West Brom will want to keep Fellows, that much is clear to see.

However, as they continue to deal with the lingering effects of previous ownership, the sale of a big asset could help Shilen Patel and co loosen the purse strings a bit going forward.

The club will be eager to find different ways to do so though with Fellows a key asset to hold onto.

The big influx of cash by selling an academy reared player would be a big help but West Brom will be eager to avoid that scenario.
