Nottingham Forest ready to open talks with ‘fantastic’ player over new contract

Nottingham Forest ready to open talks with ‘fantastic’ player over new contract.

Nottingham Forest is now riding high after defeating Leicester City 3-1 on the road on Friday night, which put them into the top five of the Premier League.

Ryan Yates gave the Reds the lead in the fifteenth minute, and despite Jamie Vardy’s equalizer, Chris Wood’s brace in the second half handed the visitors the three points.

With four league victories and four draws, Nottingham Forest leads teams like Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester United with 16 points.

Following the Reds’ incredible victory in the East Midlands derby, the team is now trying to convince one of its stars to commit to the City Ground for the future.

Chris Wood will receive a new contract offer from Nottingham Forest.

TBR Football is aware that Forest is prepared to begin negotiations with Wood on a new deal at the City Ground.

Wood has been a vital member of the team since Nuno Espirito Santo took over, although his current contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Erling Haaland, the goal machine for Manchester City, has, in fact, scored more goals throughout that span.

TBR Football now knows that Forest will give Wood an extension before his contract expires since they are prepared to begin negotiations with Nuno shortly.

Wood has found his home at Forest

Since joining Forest on loan from Newcastle United in January 2023 with a £15 million purchase obligation, Wood has been a revelation.

This season, he has scored seven goals in nine Premier League games, and his total Reds total is 51 games, 23 goals, and one assist.

“Chris Wood has been a revelation since he came here from Newcastle,” Jamie Carragher said earlier this year to Sky Sports through CatchOffside.

“He struggled at Newcastle, but since joining Forest, he has been outstanding.”

It would be fantastic to see Wood dedicate his future to the team as he has made Forest his home.

In the upcoming days or weeks, hopefully, there will be more positive news on this front.
