Ipswich considering terminating “really good” player’s contract in January

After a difficult start to the season, Ipswich Town is apparently thinking about letting a “really good” player leave the

team during the January transfer window.

Ipswich eyeing first Premier League win

As expected, Kieran McKenna’s team has struggled to recover in the Premier League, losing all eight of its first-round

matches this year.

Although the Tractor Boys have avoided relegation by at least securing four draws during that time, it is undeniable

that they need to improve, particularly in light of their humiliating 2-0 loss to struggling Everton at home last

weekend.

Ipswich’s next league game is a trip to Brentford on Saturday, which is obviously not going to be an easy one, but it

should be seen as a chance for McKenna’s team to win their first game of the season.

However, in order for that to occur, a solid team effort will be needed against the 13th-place Bees, with players

showing up and giving their best effort. A significant update on one person’s future has suddenly surfaced, and it

might not be good for him.

In January, Ipswich might cut a “really good” player.

Football Insider claims that because Kalvin Phillips is having trouble making an impact at Portman Road, Ipswich

may approve his departure during the January transfer window. According to the source, the club may now end the

28-year-old’s loan deal with Manchester City because they are “amazed” by his “lack of mobility and running power”

and senior officials believe that his “head is still at Leeds.”

Kalvin-Phillips-Ipswich

Both the player and the club would be saddened by Phillips leaving so quickly after joining on loan at Ipswich, but

it’s clear that he isn’t having the impact he had hoped for in the summer. The Englishman, who earns £150,000 a

week, has started five Premier League games, but his performances haven’t been as strong as they were when he was

wearing a Leeds shirt. In the league, he has 0.6 aerial duel wins and 0.2 blocks a game.

The unfortunate thing with Phillips is that, when he wants to be, he is obviously a very efficient player. In July,

during preseason, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praised him, stating: “Kalvin was really good.”

“He is a pretty good player when he can see the entire pitch in front of him and get the ball. We have more issues

when I have him in smaller areas. He was very helpful to us and very skilled with the ball. His performance has

greatly impressed me.

However, after leaving for City, Phillips’ career has unfortunately taken a somewhat stunning turn for the worst,

losing both the team and his spot in England’s starting lineup.

Although he still has time to improve at the age of 28, his performances for Ipswich have been pleasing, so it would

feel like a devastating indictment to see him go in January after being a vital signing.
