Nottingham Forest have caught a lot of people off guard with the impressive start they’ve made to the current campaign, and even one former Manchester City star is singing their praise.
Nuno Espirito Santo is the genius behind the transformation of Nottingham Forest in the first eight games of this season.
One of the big differences has been the defensive setup of the Reds, as they’ve gone from leaking goals at times last season to the second best defence in the top-flight this time round.
Nikola Milenkovic would have joined Forest with the hope of settling into life at the City Ground and getting used to the pace of the Premier League.
However, it’s only taken him a handful of games to really showcase his qualities. Jamie Carragher of all people was even stunned at how good Milenkovic has looked alongside Murillo in defence.
Now, another pundit has come out and sung the praises of Nuno and his men.
Nedum Onuoha really impressed by Nottingham Forest and their summer business
Nedum Onuoha made 116 appearances for Manchester City and won the Premier League title in the 2011-2012 season.
He’s now turned to punditry as is often the case with former Premier League footballers, and he couldn’t help but praise Nottingham Forest’s start to the season.
Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Nedum Onuoha said that Forest have been the ‘mustard’ so far this season and ranked them first in the Premier League for summer business.
“I think I went for the ones at Nottingham Forest because in say Anderson, Ward-Prowse, I think Milinkovic as well.
“Forest this year feel like a really good side, like a really tough side to play against. They’re not conceding a ton of goals and they carry a threat in transition.
“I think this is what they would have hoped for from their new signings, to be able to come in and feel like they can just go and compete against anyone and we’ve seen them do that.
“You know the the win that’s aged more than any other is beating Liverpool at Anfield you know, Liverpool’s basically won every other game so it’d be tough to say their signings haven’t made a difference, when as I say they’re playing every single week and right now I think Forest are the mustard.”
