BBC NEWS; Ipswich Town not happy with Kalvin Phillips after new Portman Road update.

According to a fresh report, Ipswich Town bosses are dissatisfied with their summer signing, Kalvin Phillips.

Ipswich Town are still hunting for their first Premier League win following an eventful summer.

The Tractor Boys and Kieran McKenna are still hunting for their first Premier League victory of the 2024/25 season, with Saturday’s setback to Everton making it eight straight without a win in the top division.

Ipswich has drew four of those eight games and is still clear of the relegation zone, but goals from Iliman Ndiaye and Michael Keane were enough for the Toffees to inflict McKenna’s team their second home Premier League defeat.

After the game, McNa stated, “We had a bad day.” The first half was quite even, but at the moment, the situations are against us. The first goal was an error on our part, and the penalty over-rule is quite unexpected given everything I’ve been told about how plain and blatant it is – that makes it 1-1, and immediately after that we didn’t defend a corner well enough in the second phase.

“We knew it would be a difficult season, and moving up to the Premier League was always going to be a struggle. We had a result in four of the eight games. We know where we need to improve, and it is up to us to convert those margins to our advantage. “The last two games got away from us.”

Phillips, who joined on loan from Manchester City during the hectic summer window, has made five league starts at Portman Road so far.

According to the source, Ipswich are “amazed” by Phillips’ lack of mobility and running strength, while ‘insiders think his condition is nowhere near the level of a good Premier League footballer’.

Phillips is the highest-paid player at Ipswich in 2024/25. However, according to WhoScored, he is the club’s 12th-best performance in the Premier League with an average match rating of 6.36/10.

Those at Portman Road aren’t happy with what they’re seeing right now, and it will be intriguing to see if Phillips remains in McKenna’s starting XI in the coming months.
