Newcastle and Celtic bosses linked with Tottenham amid growing Staveley rumours

Amanda Staveley is rumored to be considering an investment in Tottenham, which has prompted questions about Ange Postecoglou’s future and the possibility of managers from Newcastle United and Celtic taking over.

Despite some of Amanda Staveley’s businesses struggling, rumors that she would soon invest in Tottenham Hotspur are once again circulating.

The rumors have rekindled conversations regarding the manager of Spurs, with Eddie Howe of Newcastle United and Brendan Rodgers of Celtic emerging as the front-runners.

In a statement released via Bloomberg, Staveley—who was instrumental in the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF)’s 2021 ownership of Newcastle United—recently alluded to her commercial endeavors.

Her recent attendance at the NFL game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium drew criticism, but it also happened to coincide with the dissolution of two businesses, one of which was allegedly connected to her possible Spurs investment.

In spite of this setback, Staveley’s comment implies that these adjustments are calculated in order to lessen the effect of the projected hike in capital gains tax under Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour government.

It is acknowledged that she will use her vast network and deal-making expertise to facilitate the investment rather than utilizing her personal assets.

Given that Daniel Levy and the Spurs board have expressed a desire for additional funding to support the team’s development both on and off the field, it is not surprising that Staveley’s involvement has sparked rumors of a new manager.

Sources from The Sun have reported that she views Eddie Howe as the ideal successor to current manager Ange Postecoglou.

Staveley’s admiration for Howe stems from his successful stint at Newcastle, where he transformed the club into serious contenders for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Although Postecoglou has introduced a refreshing attacking style at Tottenham, the team’s inconsistent results have led some to question his ability to secure European football for the club.

The current season marks Spurs’ worst start in over a decade, prompting discussions about whether Postecoglou is the right fit for the long term.

Despite this, Levy continues to back him, given the four-year contract he signed upon joining the club last summer.
