The latest in Rangers’ search for a new chairman and CEO
Rangers has compiled a shortlist of candidates to fill the positions of chief executive and chairman.
This afternoon, interim chairman John Gilligan provided supporters with an update in an open letter.
Following the separate departures of James Bisgrove and John Bennett in recent months, the Scottish Premiership
giants have been operating without regular personnel.
The’strong and experienced individuals’ that were first shortlisted for the Ibrox roles appear to indicate that a
decision may be made sooner rather than later.
Rangers has compiled a shortlist of candidates to fill the positions of chief executive and chairman.
The Scottish Premiership giants have been operating without permanent figures since the respective departures of
John Bennett and James Bisgrove in recent months.
The’strong and experienced individuals’ that were first shortlisted for the Ibrox roles appear to indicate that a
decision may be made sooner rather than later.
“Of course, we are determined to fill the Chairman and CEO roles as quickly as possible, and our recruitment
consultants have already produced shortlists of very strong and experienced candidates for both roles,” Gilligan
stated in the open letter.
“While that is going on, helping Philippe in any way we can will be our top goal in order to make sure the men’s
firstteam can keep improving on the strides we have seen in them lately.
“We must thank Philippe for standing tall during these difficult months and for dealing with non-football matters on
the club’s behalf.”
He further on, “I can confirm Director of Football Operations Creag Robertson will leave in the coming weeks to
pursue new opportunities,” in reference to other off-field issues pertaining to the club’s leadership.
“Creag has played a number of roles for the club since he joined in 2016, and we would like to thank him for his
contributions and wish him well in his future aspirations.
“I’ve seen some rumours that the club is without leadership as a result of Creag going on. I promise you that this isn’t
the case because George Letham and I, with our extensive business and fantastic club expertise, work tirelessly with
our executive management team to keep the club moving forward.
“Nils Koppen, our Director of Football Recruitment, highlighted in an interview last week that planning for the
January transfer window is well underway.
“On the business front, Karim Virani and his colleagues have closed a fantastic new front-of-shirt sponsorship
contract with the Kindred group, and we are particularly happy with the job Elior has completed on the catering front
in such a short amount of time.
“The financial uplift in both deals, together with the strong financial oversight and controls actioned by CFO, James
Taylor will positively benefit the club going forward.”
