Leeds United handed triple injury boost ahead of huge Sheffield United test

Daniel James and Manor Solomon of Leeds United have resumed full training, and Daniel Farke has announced that Max Wober is returning ahead of schedule.

Leeds United entered this international break in fifth place, having had a respectable start to the season.

They had gone four games without a loss and looked good in their most recent match against Sunderland, who are currently atop the table, only to lose two points due to a last-minute Illan Meslier blunder.

Daniel Farke and company have done some fairly fantastic work to be in a great position, especially at this early stage, considering the injury issues at Elland Road.

Due to long-term injuries, midfield duo Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu are sidelined, which leaves a huge void in their lineup. Two of their stars, though, will soon be back playing for the first squad.
Wingers Daniel James and Manor Solomon returned to full first-team practice last week, Leeds United manager Mike Farke revealed to the media prior to the team’s game against Sheffield United on Friday, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Excellent news! Daniel James and Manor Solomon have been back in squad training since late last week, playing a significant role. Dan James, who was out for six weeks, was obviously absent for a bit longer than Manor, who was out for three weeks. Need them back as solutions badly.

The Leeds United manager said that Max Wober is expected to return earlier than expected, allaying original concerns that he wouldn’t play until after the next international break.

Valuable depth

The addition of James and Solomon to the team gives Leeds United a good depth of experience.

Against Sunderland, young players Sam Chambers, Charlie Crew, and James Debayo were all on the bench. Even though the injury issue will provide those young players invaluable experience, Farke would much rather have reliable substitutes available for them on the bench.

The two will at the very least provide Wilfried Gnonto and Largie Ramazani fierce competition out wide, even though they might find it difficult to immediately return to the starting lineup.

Another tough test

Following their recent match against league leaders Sunderland, high-flying Sheffield United will be the next opponent.

The Blades, who are presently ranked second, are the only team in the Championship that has not yet lost. If Chris Wilder’s team hadn’t been docked two points, they would have won the division.

Sheffield United, who have won four of their past five games, will be a formidable challenge for Farke’s team, who will be anxious to continue their winning streak.
