Thomas Tuchel has been named as Gareth Southgate’s successor and the next manager of the England football team.

The 51-year-old is a serial champion known for assembling teams capable of competing for the sport’s most prestigious prizes. That will be his briefing with the Three Lions.

His name is already well-known in English football, having spent 20 months in command of Chelsea, whom he assisted.

capture a second Champions League trophy, in addition to the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA World Club Cup.

Tuchel was at Stamford Bridge from January 2021 until September 2022, working with current Nottingham players.

Forest star Callum Hudson-Odoi gave the then-teenager a pretty consistent source of first-team football before

sending him on loan to Bayer Leverkusen, a month before the German left the Blues.

The thought of the pair reuniting at international level may come with a proviso for Hudson-Odoi, who spent much of

his time under Tuchel at Chelsea in a different position rather than as a winger.

Tuchel worked with Hudson-Odoi, who turned down the opportunity to play for England Under-21s in August 2021.

He had already won three senior caps in 2019 and Tuchel believed he deserved to be called up to the entire

team.Instead, Hudson-Odoi elected to stay with his club to advocate for more domestic football.

“It is his decision, not mine or the club’s. If I conjecture a little, I believe it is due to sadness that he was not selected

for the first team, but it is also possible that he did not play enough minutes to be considered. I could understand the

benefit of getting some minutes and taking on a leadership position for the Under 21s, but he decided otherwise, so

he will face the consequences.”
