Bryan Cristante to Everton: O’Rourke shares update today
Everton are unlikely to sign Roma star Bryan Cristante during the January transfer window, according to Football
Insider sources.
On the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior writer Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 29-
year-old is an important part of Roma’s plans as they want to turn their season around after a terrible start.
Roma are now 12th in the Serie A league, having won just three of their first 13 games of the season, prompting Ivan
Juric’s resignation on November 10.
They are, however, keen to turn things around in the second half of the season and believe that keeping their finest
players at the club will be necessary.
Cristante, a defensive midfielder who can also play centre-back, has appeared in all 13 league games and four of their
five Europa League matches.
Dan Friedkin’s acquisition of Goodison Park is expected to be completed before the turn of the year, sparking
speculation about future transfers.
He was identified as a prospective Everton signing after playing for Roma under the Friedkin Group’s ownership,
although a move is deemed doubtful.
Everton are aiming to bolster their team following a rocky start to the season, having won only two of their first 12
Premier League games.
However, the Toffees’ scouting department is looking at all parts of the pitch for potential improvements ahead of
the January transfer window.
With the takeover set to be completed before the new year, it is possible that the squad may receive reinforcements
to enhance it.
While a deal for Cristante appears improbable, the Toffees are still interested in a number of players who they
believe may improve their squad.
The new links established as a result of Friedkin’s ownership are claimed to have opened up fresh avenues for the
recruitment staff to pursue in the transfer market.
