Celtic hero Chris Sutton discusses an Aberdeen ‘possibility’ that will annoy Rangers fans
Chris Sutton, a Celtic hero, is undoubtedly one of Scottish football’s most vociferous commentators.
Chris Sutton is known for his willingness to criticize Celtic as well as other league clubs, which many admire.
Sutton’s criticism of Rangers often irritates the Ibrox supporters, despite his balanced and objective analysis.
When a former Celtic striker suggests Aberdeen could finish second to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership rankings, the Ibrox fans are likely to be upset.
Sutton says it’s possible Aberdeen could split Celtic and Rangers
Aberdeen’s season-long success has sparked speculation among experts, including Gary Lineker, that they could challenge Celtic for the league title.
And now, big Sutton has chimed in on the discussion, with a stance that is guaranteed to irritate Rangers fans.
Sutton told the It’s All Kicking Off podcast, “I think Aberdeen has won every game, as has Celtic this season.
“So, a team other than Celtic and Rangers is in the top two. I mean, Aberdeen might maybe divide Celtic and Rangers this season.”
Celtic face their biggest test of the season vs Aberdeen
Many people will suggest that saying Aberdeen is Celtic’s biggest test is mischief-making but the stats do not lie.
Jimmy Thelin’s Aberdeen is unbeaten in the league and appears to be a different beast than the team that struggled to finish in the top six last season, which Celtic must be aware of.
The Dons have scored 15 goals in seven games while conceding six, which is a weakness that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers can exploit.
